Entries rolling in for popular half marathon
THIS year's Sheffield Half Marathon has already become a record breaker – after entries topped the 1,000-mark quicker than ever before.
An extra 300 more people have signed up for the April 26 run compared with this time last year.
The race has a limit of 5,500 participants.
Ian Thomas, entries co-ordinator for the Half Marathon, said: "It is great to see that, even in times of economic difficulty, people are keener than ever to take part in the race.
"However, we would still urge people to sign up to raise cash for some great charities and make this our most successful race to date."
The 10 chosen charities for this year's event are Sheffield Teenage Cancer Trust, Motor Neurone Disease Association South Yorkshire, Macmillan Cancer Support, Myasthenia Gravis Association, RSPCA Sheffield, Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre South Yorkshire, Sheffield Wildlife Trust, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind and Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice.
