French food traders are featured in a continental market in Barnsley this week.
The market, which runs from Wednesday to Saturday – ahead of the Tour de France’s arrival in South Yorkshire on Sunday – includes French baked goods so people can get into the spirit of the cycling spectacular.
Cafés across the borough are also serving Le Tour-themed food and 15,000 pints of a special created beer called Sur Vorte Velow – French for ‘on your bike’ – have been sold.
Sue Thiedeman, Barnsley Council head of culture, said: “Barnsley has a great range of superb food and drink producers. It’s fantastic to see so many embracing this.”
