Householders in the south east of Sheffield are set to benefit from a new environmentally-friendly source of heating.
UYE Limited, which has obtained planning permission to build the waste wood-burning facility on the Holbrook Industrial Estate, has asked Sheffield Council for a 99-year lease for the site, with an option to purchase the freehold interest within the first 10 years.
Electricity generated at the centre would be supplied to the National Grid.
Meanwhile, hot water will be distributed by an underground pipe to a boiler house on Pedley Grove where it will be distributed to provide heat to residential properties in Westfield.
The council’s cabinet has been recommended to approve the lease at a meeting on Wednesday.
