IT has grown into the biggest comedy festival in England over the last six years - but Sheffield’s Grin Up North has told its last joke.
The month-long extravaganza will be relaunched in 2012 as the Last Laugh Festival after the organising duo announced they were going separate ways.
Radio Sheffield DJ Toby Foster insisted the new-look event would be as big as Grin with heavyweight names Dara O Briain and Ross Noble already booked. It will remain in October.
But he will stage the show without long-term collaborator Scott Barton of Yellow Bus Events.
Toby said: “With or without funding the festival will go ahead, that’s a given. My attitude is if the council gives us money thanks very much, if not, thanks very much.”
Scott said: “It was time for me to move on. Toby will keep doing fantastic things and I’ll enjoy going as a punter.”
