OVERNIGHT demolition marked the end of a landmark seven-storey council building in Rotherham at the weekend.
Crinoline House, the former home of Rotherham Council’s social services department, was levelled over 35 hours.
A specialist demolition team brought down the structure, which was built in the 1970s, from 7pm on Saturday. Both lanes of the town’s busy Centenary Way were closed.
The building was demolished from the top down, with concrete and steel being broken up as workers went.
Two specialist machines from London were brought in to help with the operation.
The site looks set to be redeveloped for retail use.
