Employment laws are not adhered to

Have your say

It’s 8.50pm on Wednesday and I’m watching a programme about fruit and veg growers.

It’s just been showing migrant workers on a strawberry farm picking the fruit.

When talking to the owner/gaffer about the workers he said that the workers know how much they want to earn, meaning below national wage and that they get one break of 15 minutes, because they want them working and not going to the toilet.

Now surely one 15-minute break in a day is illegal.

Is it any wonder English people won’t do the work when so many employment laws are not adhered to.

Is this practice regulated and employers punished if found to be flouting the law?
