Emirates flies into trouble

TONY and Elaine Warburton are in the lucky position of earning a large number of airmiles with Emirates, but the airline’s customer service took a buffeting when it sent Tony two unwanted items and took £300 from his account.

Tony, aged 70, of Oxley Close, Stocksbridge, used the couple’s airmiles to claim a hedge trimmer, heart rate monitor and coffee machine. But Emirates sent two more coffee machines and debited £301.72 from his bank account without authorisation, he claims.

Emirates has defied all efforts to be contacted.

Tony said: “I didn’t order them and the money was just taken. I think it is strange when I cannot get to speak to a person so I can solve this. I definitely will not be shopping with Emirates again.”

AN Emirates spokesman said they had agreed to pick up both coffee machines by courier.

He said: “A courier will be arranged at no cost. Once this is complete, the card payments made for the two coffee machines will be refunded.”
