The three main emergency services descended on Whittington Moor roundabout in Chesterfield after a motorbike went up in flames.

Police, paramedics and firefighters rushed to the busy junction shortly before 4.15pm yesterday after receiving reports of an incident.

A Derbyshire fire service spokesman said: "Upon arrival, we found a road traffic collision involving a motorbike and there was fire involving the motorbike.

"Firefighters from Chesterfield and Dronfield used a hose reel jet to tackle the fire and assisted the ambulance service with a casualty.

"Police also attended."

Emergency services were at the scene for about half an hour.

There is currently no word on the condition of the casualty the fire service spokesman referred to.
