THIS summer will certainly be the wrong time to break the law on Britain’s biggest mountains.
Ben Nevis in Scotland, Snowdon in Wales, and Scafell Pike are all set for a major police presence - thanks to a group of caring Doncaster bobbies.
Eight officers who serve in the borough are aiming to complete the National three Peaks challenge to raise money for charity.
The officers will be attempting to climb the three peaks in just 24 hours on Tuesday, May 31 and Wednesday, June 1.
The officers are completing training to ensure they are up for the challenge, and are practising their climbing skills on peaks in the Lake District.
Officers Gordon Doudie, Pete Haggan, Julie Fretwell, Emma Taylor, Clare Gray, Shelley Taylor, Neil Davies and Mark Gregory will be climbing for two charities - Help for Heroes and the Alzheimer’s Association. Log onto www.justgiving.com/helpforheroes or www.justgiving.com/alzheimerssoc to donate.
