Elderly man, 81, suffers serious head injury in Rotherham street robbery

An 81-year-old man has suffered a serious head injury after being attacked by a street robber in Rotherham.

The incident happened around 9.30am on Thursday June 18.

Police said that just after the man had crossed St Anne’s Road onto St. Leonards Road he was approached by an unknown man who asked him for the time.

The unknown man then began to search the pensioner’s pockets and then pushed the man to the ground.

The suspect is believed to have run away in the direction of St Anne’s Road with a small amount of cash. He is described as black in his late teens and is about 5ft 8ins tall of a slim build with short black hair.

He had a thin face, with stubble and spoke with a foreign accent. He is thought to have been wearing a black zip-up jacket and dirty blue jeans.
