Police in Sheffield are asking residents to be extra vigilant after elderly residents were targeted by a bogus caller.
An elderly couple in the Spout Lane area of Stannington were visited by a man who claimed to be a tree surgeon on Sunday, May 10.
Police believe that the couple, who are in their 90s, paid the man for work that was then never carried out.
Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident and are reminding all residents to check that companies are registered, before handing over cash to cold callers.
