BIG-HEARTED Bill Bottomley thought the yolk was on him when he visited a shop to buy Easter eggs.
He was left shell-shocked when staff at Tesco tried to prevent him from buying a huge pile of Easter eggs.
Bill was planning to splash out on two dozen eggs to give to his five children and members of staff at his wife’s company.
He went for the ‘three eggs for £10’ range – but was left with egg on his face as he was stopped from making the purchase at the checkout on Huddersfield Road, Barnsley.
The communications director said: “I managed to see a supervisor and, after I tried to get across why I wanted the eggs, was allowed finally to buy them.”
Tesco apologised and said it had a limit on promotions ‘to ensure all our customers can benefit’.
