Students at a South Yorkshire college are getting a real life lesson in sustainable energy thanks to two 24 metre wind turbines which have been erected in their grounds.
The turbines which are more than 30 metres high are the result of an investment of £135,000 by the Coalfields Regeneration Trust.
Once the turbines are switched on they will generate 20kWp of energy from natural resources every year, the equivalent to five times that required for an average family home.
As a result the college will be in a position to power a full building as a result of the installation.
The project will create a sustainable energy source that will save the college much needed funds that would otherwise have been spent on utility bills.
