EFFORTS by Sheffield Hallam University to improve its research staff’s working conditions and career development have been recognised at European level.

The university has received the sought-after HR Excellence in Research Award from the European Commission.

To gain the award, Hallam had to demonstrate detailed plans to improve how it attracts, manages and develops research staff.

The proposals are part of a European strategy to increase the attractiveness and sustainability of research careers in the UK.
