University is second in poll

Sheffield came second in an annual poll to find the best university according to students.

The University of Sheffield was beaten by Loughborough in the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey.

The survey asked more than 13,000 undergraduates to rate their university on 21 different factors - from quality of teaching to social life on campus.

Loughborough scored highly for its sports facilities, campus environment, extracurricular activities, social life, students’ union and library.

It is the fifth year running the university has topped the poll. East Anglia was third.
