South Yorkshire’s top schools have been celebrating their success in the latest GCSE league tables.
In Sheffield, the independent Birkdale School was top of the rankings, with 95 per cent of its students getting five A* to C or above.
In second place was Sheffield High School for girls with 94 per cent, followed by Handsworth Christian School, which had a 79 per cent success rate.
Notre Dame High School was fourth with 77 per cent, with Tapton School, a secondary with academy status, in fifth, with the same percentage.
In Rotherham, Focus School was top with an 89 per cent success rate, followed by Wickersley School with 78 per cent.
Aston Academy was third with 72 per cent.
In Doncaster, the best-performing school was Hill House, with 89 per cent, followed by Hayfield with 76 per cent and Hungerhill with 68 per cent.
In the Barnsley area, Penistone Grammar was the highest-ranked for its GCSE results, with 70 per cent of its pupils getting five A* to C grades or above. In second was Horizon Community College and Holy Trinity was third.
