Teacher’s 10-week odyssey

Have your say

A SHEFFIELD trainee teacher is just back from an expedition to Central America, thanks to support from youth charity Raleigh International.

Chelsie Eccles, aged 24, travelled to Costa Rica and Nicaragua on a ten- week trip, working on a community water project where she dug trenches and laid pipes.

She was also worked on a conservation organisation, releasing turtles back into the wild safely after they had hatched.

Chelsie now plans to continue her teacher training after learning invaluable skills while dealing with a variety of young people from different cultures.

“The trip improved my confidence and I now want to pursue a career working with young people in sport,” she said.
