A Codebug Crown was handed to Barnsley’s Netherwood ALC, as winners of the Premier Farnell Wearable Technology Challenge.

Netherwood beat nine other schools from across Yorkshire in a head to head contest during a science fair at Leeds Beckett University.

Year 7-9 students created working prototypes of wearable technology, impressing judges with their ‘dance mat’ and tag games t-shirt, with a light extinguished on touch. Team members won Pebble Smart watches and Codebugs within the judges’ choice award that eventually saw them take the main trophy. Ahead Partnership Chief Executive, Stephanie Burras said: “I was full of admiration for every student.”
