A DEALERSHIP has donated a vehicle to a South Yorkshire college for students to learn about car maintenance and repairs.

Polar Ford, based on Wakefield Road, Barnsley, has donated a Vauxhall Corsa to the Engineering Department at Barnsley College to be used by Motor Vehicle students.

They will carry out inspections, repairs, replace parts and learn about wheel alignment and adjusting the braking system.

Tom Williams, sales manager at Polar Ford, said: “As a local business we feel it is important for us to contribute to the community, which is why we want to support our local colleges and learning centres. The students currently studying for motor vehicle qualifications are the service technicians of the future and we want them to have the best training possible.”

Roger Gillespie, programme manager at Barnsley College, said: “The practical experience that the students will gain from the car will be invaluable.”
