IT’S all adding up for Sheffield teenager Paulos Geberaselassie - who scored a perfect 100 per cent in his AS level maths exam.

The 17-year-old, a student at Sheffield Park Academy, has only recently arrived in the UK from Ethiopia and speaks English as a second language.

Sixth-former Paulos said: “To achieve 100 per cent makes me very happy and is now influencing me to work even harder towards my next exams. I want to achieve my goal of studying chemical engineering at university.”

Paulos’ next challenge will be A-levels in core mathematics, statistics and mechanics in January.

And as a reward for his achievement, Paulos has been invited to represent the academy at a special Wimbledon Rewards Day, organised by academy sponsor the United Learning Trust.

Specially selected students will travel to London and enjoy a guided tour of the All England Lawn Tennis Club and onsite museum.

Academy principal Maria Nightingale said Paulos’ exam result was an amazing achievement.

“Paulos has shown just what can be achieved through a combination of hard work, dedication and strong support. We are incredibly proud of him and will now be helping him hopefully reach similar heights in the rest of his studies,” she added.
