A NEW supermarket in Sheffield has hit the right note by donating £200 to help a secondary school band re-tune its equipment.
Chaucer Business and Enterprise College’s steel band received the donation as thank you for a performance at the opening of the new Asda store on Chaucer Road in Parson Cross.
Store spokeswoman Janet Newman said: “The band’s performance at our store opening was brilliant but, on the day, the pupils mentioned they needed to raise the money to re-tune their equipment. We are delighted to be able to help out towards their continued success.”
John Dean from Chaucer College praised students Sam Hudson, Heather McNeil and Catherine Carr and said: “The Steel Pans have been at Chaucer for the past 15 years.”
