DONCASTER’S Council housing organisation has been voted Employer of the Year at an awards ceremony to mark Apprenticeship Week 2011.
St Leger Homes won the award at the Apprenticeship Award Ceremony hosted by Dearne Valley College.
It was one of seven awards given out at the presentation.
St Leger Homes employs three apprentices through the Wath-based college studying, plastering, joinery and brickwork.
The housing firm, which manages 21,000 homes for Doncaster Council, was nominated by the apprentices for being a supportive and encouraging employer and awarded with a certificate and a trophy.
Sharon Adam, assistant director of St Leger Homes, collected the award from Paul Townsley, Principal and Chief Executive of the college.
She said: “Apprentices are vital to the future success of St Leger Homes as a business – it enables us to train skilled staff in our ways of working, both for now and the future.”
