THERE was no danger of a Sheffield school’s sports day being rained off - as they decided to stave off the unpredictable weather by holding it indoors.

Girls from Ashdell Preparatory School, Broomhill, took part in their annual sports day at the English Institute of Sport in Attercliffe, keeping fit and having fun with a variety of different activities.

The children were divided into different teams named after Sheffield rivers, running relay races, skipping, and leaping impressively along the athletics track during the long jump.

Team Rivelin took first place, with Porter second, Don third and Loxley fourth.

The youngsters had even made their own Olympic torch.

Scores of parents also attended to cheer on their children, and gamely attempted the traditional ‘mystery race’.
