Olympic champion Jessica Ennis-Hill will inspire pupils in her home city after their school won a ‘golden ticket’ experience.

The heptathlete, currently pregnant with her first child, is to spend a day with Wales High School students thanks to the Sky Sports Living for Sport education initiative.

Around 20 lucky youngsters will visit the English Institute of Sport in Attercliffe, where Jess trains, to take part in a range of activities on March 27.

Jess said: “Inspiring the next generation and giving them the opportunity to build skills, experience and self-belief through sport is really important to me.

“When I was young, I got the chance to do something I loved and what I’ve learned through sport helps me in life.

“It is going to be a special day and I’m very proud to be hosting it in my home town.”

Students will also meet other Sky Sport for Living mentors, including Olympians and world champions, on the day.

Liana Underwood, school sports co-ordinator at Wales High, said pupils were ‘so excited to hear they had won the opportunity’.

In total 15 schools from across the country will attend the session.
