Local rap artist Jay Fitz and Got to Dance semi-finalists Urban Jokers also performed.

Schools were invited to the event to mark the end of an initiative funded by the South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership, aimed at encouraging peer-to-peer road safety education in secondary schools.

Students were asked to devise a piece of theatre incorporating key road safety messages to perform to their schools.

The students filmed their productions and submitted them to the Sheffield Council’s Road Safety Team.

The films were screened at the Road Safety Oscars and prizes were handed out.

Joanne Wehrle, South Yorkshire Road Safety Partnership’s Safer Roads education manager, said: “We were treated to a fantastic afternoon’s entertainment, but behind this there was a serious message about keeping young people safer on the roads.”
