ELECTION fever hit a Doncaster school as 1,000 pupils cost their votes to elect a school president.
Polling booths were set up at Balby Carr School to allow youngsters to decide who should represent them at official events.
After all the votes were counted, Simon Orford was elected as president and the vice president was fellow pupil Princess Mavuru.
Both pupils have agreed to work in coalition with each other to represent the views of the students, work with staff and students to develop college improvement projects and represent the college at outside engagements.
Simon said: “I hope to make Balby Carr the most amazing school in Doncaster.”
Simon and Princess were among four candidates competing for the role. It was the first time the school has run the ballot to choose the president, and the student executive council.
The school says the roles are to give all pupils leadership opportunities and develop skills.
