Students at Sheffield Hallam University are preparing for a busy day of all-out action - as they prepare to take part in their annual Community Week.

Next Monday volunteers will be getting involved in 12 different activities spread right across the city.

They include a Charity Knit and Natter at a senior citizens’ home, a painting session at a children’s centre and gardening at a community allotment.

The Hallam Challenges day also includes a coin painting event on the university campus and a Cyclone Game Cube at Meadowhall in aid of St Luke’s Hospice.

Volunteer Megan Morris said: “I’m really looking forward to getting involved. As the community officer I love meeting Sheffield people and learning from them and this is an ideal way to do so.

“By spending time with each other it bridges the gaps between people in the community who would not normally spend time together.”
