Sheffield meeting for anti-austerity campaign

STUDENTS and trade unionists are gathering for a meeting to discuss opposition to Government austerity measures.

The joint meeting takes place tomorrow at the auditorium, Sheffield University Students’ Union, Western Bank, from 7pm.

Speakers include Unite executive policy director Steve Turner, Bakery food and allied workers union president Ian Hodson, SUSU president Abdi Suleiman, SUSU women’s officer Amy Masson and workers from Remploy.

The meeting is set to be discussing how Government cuts are impacting on jobs and services, on different parts of the community, including students, workers, pensioner, the disabled and the unemployed.

The meeting is also set to call for action against austerity.
