A community homework club set up in an inner city Sheffield suburb has been given the thumbs-up by inspection watchdog Ofsted.
The Information Technology Community School for Subject Support was set up by volunteers in Burngreave in 2001 to help young people reach their full potential.
It runs seven days a week and helps pupils reach their targets at their regular places of education.
The school has now received official accreditation from Ofsted, and has also won a grant which will secure the centre’s immediate future.
Thirteen-year-old student Khalid said: “Study support is important for me, I’m not that good at science but study support helps me to keep up with other kids at my school.”
Sessions involve homework support, exam revision, teaching and a playgroup for pre-school children.
