For the first time in its history, the academy surpassed the 50 per cent mark for its pupils achieving at least five A* to C grades, including maths and English.
The overall pass rate stood at 51 per cent - a ten per cent increase on last year.
Executive principal Mike Westerdale said he was ecstatic with the results which he put down to the hard work of the school’s staff and students.
He said: “To help the students we put on extra maths and science lessons and extended the school day with many pupils taking up the opportunity to attend extra classes.
“The improvement on last year is fantastic and we’re delighted that our students have such high aspirations for the future.”
