More than 650 secondary school pupils from across South Yorkshire will delve into the world of scientific discovery at The University of Sheffield’s interactive exhibition Chemistry @ Work.

The exhibition forms part of the Sheffield Festival of Science and Engineering 2013 and aims to inspire pupils to discover a passion for chemical sciences in the hope that they will become scientists of the future.

Young scientists will take part in workshops on topics including Olympic Sport Science, Think Forensic, Polymer Slime, Animated Elements, the Solar-Powered Car Challenge and Emergency Life Support.

Dr Julie Hyde, from The University of Sheffield’s Department of Chemistry, said: “Chemistry is at the heart of many careers and we allow the students to enhance their experience and enjoy the chemistry which will make their future experience of the subject more relevant.”
