PUPILS in inner city Sheffield schools are set to learn more about where their food comes from – thanks to a share of a £195,000 Lottery grant.
The project will focus on food produced by trees in areas where there is a lack of pleasant green space.
It will also seek to create growing areas for fruit and nut trees in school grounds, linked with a range of practical workshops offering skills in planting and harvesting.
The initiative called Trees for Food is being run by a £57.5 million funding programme which supports food-related community projects across the country.
It aims to inspire people to produce local food.
