A CHARITY jumble sale held by a Sheffield young people’s group raised over £1,100 for two schools in Pakistan.
The event at the Sharrow Old Junior School was organised by the Sheffield Woodcraft Folk with help from the local Pakistani community.
The group has agreed to support the schools for five years, contributing £300 a month to provide education for children who otherwise would not get an opportunity.
The project came about after the Woodcraft Folk created a partnership with a trade union organisation in Pakistan which is committed to providing schools for the children of brick kiln workers.
As a result, a group of young people from Sheffield went east for the formal opening of one of the schools earlier this year.
Organisers have said thank you to all who donated goods and supported the event.
