‘Keep clear’ markings outside Sheffield schools could take a year longer than expected to make fully enforceable, council chiefs say.
Sheffield Council had said it would take about three years to complete legal orders for the yellow markings banning parking outside schools - after it emerged just a small number were legally valid.
Coun Leigh Bramall, the council’s cabinet member for business, skills and development, said: “We are now anticipating work will be completed by 2017. We have completed orders at more than 40 of 154 locations.”
But he added that complaints from opposition Lib Dems about the extra year were unfair.
“We have allocated £200,000 over the next financial year to help cover the cost. In the Lib Dems’ last year in charge, they spent just £20,000 on school safety projects,” Coun Bramall said.
