TWO primary schools could soon be rebuilt under plans set to be approved by Sheffield Council.
Fox Hill Primary School, on Powey Road, will be rebuilt on the same site while the school continues to operate.
The old school will then be demolished and the area developed into sport facilities.
Meanwhile, Prince Edward Primary School, on City Road, will also be rebuilt across part of the existing school location in Manor Top and part of a cleared former housing site.
The future of the old school site would be discussed at a later date.
Members of the council’s cabinet are expected to agree the plans at its next meeting, on Wednesday.
The two schools are deemed to be in dire need of replacement and cannot wait for the outcome of a larger bid for private finance cash to rebuild primary schools across Sheffield.
Coun Jackie Drayton, cabinet member for children, young people and families, said: “Rebuilding the schools in these cases makes real sense and provides great value for money – plus up-to -date, modern, refreshing facilities.”
