Youngsters were inspired to go for gold at an Olympic-themed summer school run by the University of Sheffield.
The Discover Us Student Experience Summer School saw over 100 young people from Rotherham, Sheffield and Wakefield engage in sporting activites and learn study skills.
Year ten pupils undertook a two-day programme of sports and innovative workshops, all with an Olympic theme.
They showcased their creativity and communication skills in an engineering challenge, creating their own Olympic stadium using paper tubes.
Youngsters also used the university’s badminton, football and basketball facilities and took to the track to complete a gruelling sports circuit where they competed for bronze, silver and gold medals.
Jack Price, a pupil from Clifton Community Arts School in Rotherham said: “This event was an excellent opportunity to learn what life is like on campus and the exciting goings-on there.
“It was a really enjoyable opportunity.”
