Ifra Latif simply loves her lessons – in four years at Sheffield’s Tinsley Juniors she’s never missed a single day at school.

The 11-year-old was presented with a special certificate to mark her achievement, while also enjoying a series of end-of-term treats.

Pupil support officer Julie Mason said Ifra was a wonderful role model for all the younger children.

“She is the first pupil in several years to reach this milestone – certainly I have never known another to have managed this is all the time I’ve been here,” she said.

“You can always rely on Ifra – she’s always here, come what may, come rain or shine and she doesn’t let a few sniffles put her off.”

Pupils who manage a perfect year’s attendance are taken on a special end of year trip – so Ifra has been on all four during her time at Tinsley.

The first year she was taken out for a meal and to the cinema, while she’s been twice to Lightwater Valley, near Ripon, and this year to Pleasure Island at Cleethorpes. But it doesn’t end there.

Every pupil in their last year at Tinsley becomes a prefect, a status they keep unless they misbehave.

Youngsters are given ‘strikes’ if they fall below scratch, and it’s only after three that they pay the price.

Julie said Ifra, who is due to start studies at Brinsworth Comprehensive in September, had no strikes on her record at all – making her a perfect prefect.

She said: “All the prefects went on a trip to Alton Towers – but those with no strikes were invited to an end-of-year party too, so Ifra’s been an extremely busy girl!”

Meanwhile Ifra’s sister Hira, aged nine, is following in her footsteps. After two years at Tinsley Juniors, she has a perfect attendance record too.
