SHEFFIELD Hallam University has signed a four-year agreement with the Brazilian Ministry of Sport so the country’s athletes can benefit from sports science work in the Steel City.
Brazilian Sports Minister, Aldo Rebelo, and Vice-Chancellor of Sheffield Hallam University, Philip Jones, signed a ‘memorandum of understanding’ in the area of sports science. Initially the agreement is valid for four years, but it may be extended.
Guy Masterman, president of the Academy of Sports at Sheffield Hallam University, said: “Since receiving the Brazil judo team in Sheffield last year for the first time, we have had a increasingly close relationship with Brazil and this agreement is a way to extend our support to other Brazilian sports teams.
“It’s also a recognition of the strategy that has been pursued by the city of Sheffield as a whole to become a leading sport destination.”
