Young people wanting to work in the creative industries have the chance to broaden their career prospects through a new vocational course to be held at a Sheffield college.
Norton College is launching a one-year creative apprenticeship for 16- to 24-year-olds this September, the first of its kind in Yorkshire.
Twenty four places are available on the course, which is equivalent to two A Levels. Apprenticeships offer young people the chance to earn as they learn through hands-on practical experience.
They will develop their skills with employers three days and study at college one day a week. For information, go to www.sheffcol.ac.uk/creativeapprenticeships or call 0114 2602600.
There are number of training roles covering journalism, videography, graphic design, marketing, festival organisation, and gallery, framing and artist’s assistants.
Employers who have agreed to support the scheme include the Bank Street, Site and Cupola art galleries, Sensoria and KoniMusic.
