STAFF and pupils told MP Rosie Winterton of their concerns over plans to close their Doncaster school during a visit to the site.
Rosie Winterton, MP for Doncaster Central, visited Cantley Sycamore Primary School to meet students and talk about her work as an MP.
She had previously been invited to attend the school’s open day but was unable to, so went along instead to the school council which is run by pupils.
Pupils raised the issue of the proposed closure of their school under Doncaster’s plans for a schools reorganisation.
Ms Winterton said: “It is always really encouraging to hear from young people who are interested in politics and want to make a difference to their local community.”
A campaign has been launched to save the school, rated as good by Ofsted.
Doncaster Council wants to close the school because of the number of surplus places there.
