Youngsters biked to the morning breakfast table as part of a scheme to get pupils cycling to school.

Around 40 pupils from Herringthorpe Junior School took to the saddle and rode to classes, where they were served a special breakfast as part of the national Bike It campaign.

It was the first of a number of activities planned across Rotherham this summer.

Pupils at St Thomas Church of England Primary School in Kilnhurst will enjoy fresh drinks made with a bike-powered smoothie maker on Monday as part of the campaign, run by sustainable transport charity Sustrans.

Cycling will also be introduced to the school curriculum as part of numerous lessons.
