YOUNGSTERS from a Doncaster know their star fruits from their mangoes!
Pupils from Saltersgate Junior School in Scawsby were invited to Sainsbury’s in Edenthorpe to have a taste of fruits from all over the world.
Staff at the supermarket produced a succession of different items ranging from bananas to blueberries.
And they gave the youngsters a talk about where each of the foods came from and how they were produced.
The event included a discussion on the issue of fair trade, where producers from poor countries get a higher share of the profits.
A spokesman for the store said they also told them how different fruits are available at different times of the year because they were seasonal.
He said that the children enjoyed tasting them.
