A Sheffield headteacher has thanked staff and students after his school was recognised for its best GCSE results.

Sheffield Park Academy has received a letter of congratulations from schools minister David Laws – it will also receive £5,000 from the Department of Education’s Pupil Premium Awards.

The Manor school saw 66 per cent of its students get at least five A* to C grades in last summer’s GCSEs and has been recognised for the progress and attainment of disadvantaged students.

Craig Dillon, headteacher, said: “This is testament to the hard work and dedication of staff, students and parents.”
