Youth service leaders from across the country were today gathering in Sheffield for a two-day summit to meet Government head-on in the challenges faced by young people.

The Heads of Young People’s Services conference takes place at the Mercure St Paul’s Hotel in the city centre today and tomorrow.

Sheffield Council will welcome more than 100 heads of services and youth sector leaders from across England at the event, which aims to ‘get to grips with the challenges young people face at a time of austerity and great change in their lives across education and employment, health, communities and troubled families’.

They will hear from speakers including David Blunkett MP and Louise Casey, who is leading the Government’s initiative on troubled families.
