DONCASTER author and raconteur Gervase Phinn will be appearing on stage at Hayfield School, Auckley, on Thursday, March 29, from 7pm to 9pm.

Mr Phinn, whose children attended the school, was a former teacher who went on to become a top-selling writer with tales of his days as a North Yorkshire school inspector.

Tickets priced at £5 are now available from the school reception and includes cheese and wine.

Head’s funeral

the funeral service for a former headteacher of the lower school at Don Valley High in Scawthorpe, is due to be held on Monday at Doncaster Minster. Colin Burley died last week at the age of 73.

WI AGM

ladies from Tickhill and District Women’s Institute will be joining other members from the area at the annual general meeting in Loversall WI Hut on Monday.

Blood needed

fire crews were called to Shortwood Lane, Clayton, on Thursday night when a Ford Mondeo was set alight.
