A new headteacher has been appointed at Handsworth Christian School.

Science teacher Antony Swift takes up the role after teaching part-time at the school.

Mr Swift, who was born in Pitsmoor, took early retirement in 1997 after leaving Wath High School but soon wanted to return to the profession.

He said: “It is my commitment to build on our achievement as the top performing non-selective school in Sheffield and to ensure each child achieves their full potential.”
