Pupils from a school in Sheffield are on their marks after scoring a £10,000 funding grant.
Sheffield City Trust has secured money from the Awards For All Big Lottery Fund for Phillimore Primary School, in Darnall.
The money will go towards after-school athletics, basketball and netball sessions for Year 5 and 6 pupils at the nearby English Institute of Sport Sheffield.
The weekly sessions will start in March and run until December.
Jo Searle, PE co-ordinator and teacher, said: “It’s fantastic that the young people will be able to access weekly sports sessions at a world-class facility right on their doorstep.
“To have the chance to run on the same track as Olympic champions like Jessica Ennis-Hill will be hugely inspirational and we’re really grateful to SCT for helping to secure the funding.”
Rob Womack, from SCT, said: “We’re delighted to have helped Phillimore Primary School with the funding as we want to see more people being active and enjoying sports in Sheffield.”
