Top TV scientist Professor Lord Robert Winston visited pupils at a Sheffield secondary to see for himself their research into heart disease.
The Sheffield Hallam University Chancellor had met some of the youngsters from Tapton School talking about their work in London - and was keen to find out more.
Tapton has set up a partnership with Sheffield University which allows students to tackle real life challenges of biomedical science in their school laboratories.
The project is allowing pupils to identify some of the genes that are associated with heart attacks and to learn the same techniques used by scientists to work out how they function.
Lord Winston met the team at a conference organised by The Wellcome Trust and answered many of his questions.
