THE man in the charge of the vast Lego empire made a special trip to Doncaster to meet pupils who are using the toy giant’s latest mini-robots.

Lego has invested £30,000 in a new high-tech classroom at Ridgewood School in Scawsby and the managing director, Ward van Duffel, travelled all the way from Denmark to inaugurate it.

The school was chosen because it is a specialist engineering school and one of the top five in the country.

Assistant headteacher Neil Wooliscroft, who is in charge of engineering, said they were “absolutely delighted” to have been chosen for the honour.

The classroom, which concentrates on Lego’s robotics range, is also available to Ridgewood’s feeder primary schools.
