RULE Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory rang around a Doncaster school as they held their own Last Night of the Proms event.

Injured war hero Ben Parkinson was guest of honour at the event at Hill House School, in Finningley, as youngster sang the traditional last night favourites to raise money for the armed services charity Help for Heroes.

Pupils dressed in red, white and waved Union Jacks, on their way to raising £1,600.

Ben meet the children before the performance.

Hill House School charity organiser Michelle Lee said: “We wanted to celebrate the courage of our soldiers, and to enjoy traditional British songs.

“It’s also important that the children understand why we are raising money for charity.”

She added the school was very pleased and excited that paratrooper Ben came to the school.

Pupils of all ages took part in the show.

The school is now looking towards its next charity event.
